ETD the CSR arm of The Management Club, amongst the several meaningful programs they have held to make Sri Lanka disabled friendly, is in the process of organising a Vesak lantern competition for children with special needs. The idea is to exhibit and recognise their talent, and capability of producing an article of beauty, even though their motor skills are below those of normal children.

Play for all

The next project that is in their calendar of events is an inclusive park for children with disabilities. For this they have got the blessings of the highest authorities, but the challenges lie in obtaining the necessary permission, the finances and expertise in producing the equipment which has to be of international standards for the safety of the special kids. This is a unique project and has not been thought of in the country’s beautification plans – a place where kids with special needs can play and enjoy the fresh air, and equality that is in the reach of all others. Why not, they are our children, we owe them something, we need to bring them out into the light. This world is just as much theirs.

ETD will need the support of the corporates, individuals and the official authorities to make this a reality, and are confident that they will receive this support.
