CIMA organises discussion session titled ‘Economic consequences of global terrorism’

An in-depth understanding of the economic ramifications of terror attacks is crucial in the present global political landscape. To drive sustainable businesses, professionals need to take into account the long-term economic security of national and global economies. As such, CIMA Sri Lanka has organised a discussion session to elucidate on the economic imperatives of and approaches to global terrorism.  

This interactive session will focus on several key areas including trends in contemporary terrorism, drivers of terrorism/extremism, economic costs of responding to terrorism, effects on developing economies and collaborative approaches to combat terrorism.  

The workshop will be conducted by Admiral Jayanath Colombage, a former chief of Sri Lanka Navy who retired after 37 years of active service as a four-star Admiral. He is a maritime security practitioner and specialist with wide experience in countering maritime terrorism.  Admiral Colombage is a Fellow of the Nautical Institute (UK), Chairman of the Nautical Institute (Sri Lanka Branch), former Chairman of Sri Lanka Shipping Corporation and holds a PhD from General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (Sri Lanka).
