10 Tamil parties to form new front

Fundamental discussions have been held to form a new Tamil political party named the ‘Tamil National Front’ as a combination of 10 Tamil parties including Praba Ganeshan’s Democratic People’s Congress (DPC), Douglas Devananda’s Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) and V. Ananda Sangaree’s Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF), political sources said. 

The first discussion took place yesterday at a hotel in Bambalapitiya, led by DPC, EPDP and TULF party leaders.

Sources further said Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation (TELO), Democratic People’s Front (DPF), Tamil Eelam Liberation Front and the Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF) had already agreed to join the new party.
