Outside-lead-1The musical duo ‘De Lanerolle Brothers’ have been a part of Unity Mission Trust (UMT) as Brand Ambassadors for the last two years supporting the cause of building a better future for the youth through fostering unity and integration. UMT is a non-profit voluntary organisation, governed by a Board of Trustees and an entirely volunteer based operations team. Its main focus is to bring together youth between the ages of 17 and 25 years and focus on leadership development, personal capacity growth and self-confidence empowerment as a means of fostering unity and building bridges of friendship in Sri Lanka.

According to Rohan De Lanerolle, “This year as a part of its expansive calendar, the Unity Mission Trust will host three events this weekend at Gurutalawa, where hand-picked youth from across the country are given exposure, advice, guidance and mind-development training on very specific topics that will encourage them to develop value systems a future that will fulfil them and give back to their communities. We are very proud that this year too, UMT will host three events, the Power ONE Hundred, Ray of Hope and the 3rd Annual National Unity and Integration Awards with the aim of rewarding and uplifting the UMT youth leaders and their commitment to building their communities over the last year. We appreciate the fact that this will be UMTs 33rd event since May 2009.”

The Power ONE Hundred program is tailor made to empower and enable the young leaders to enhance their skills and assist them in finding their own ground in a world of endless opportunities, career paths and professions leading towards their own self-realisation and self-actualisation. It is also structured to provide them with core knowledge and guidance they need to have together with building up proper value systems in them.

The Annual National Unity and Integration Awards, ‘Ray of Hope’ which showcases the beauty of Sri Lankan Culture from North and South will also happen parallel to the Power ONE hundred program and the core of Youth Leadership of UMT will have a chance to witness this.

The 3rd Annual National Unity and Integration Awards which is held exclusively by the Unity Mission Trust, focuses on recognising outstanding Youth Leaders who have contributed in their own individual ways, towards Uniting and Reconciling the future of Sri Lanka. The awards will be held in the presence of highest levels of society, with outstanding and respectable members of the community being present.

Ishan De Lanerolle ended saying, “This is a truly tremendous initiative where the youth from all over the country come together irrespective of ethnicity, religion and other social divides. We are happy to be a part of this cause and I am hopeful that we will continue to collaborate with the hard-working UMT team to ensure we make a considerable difference in the way the youth see their futures and what they can achieve.”
