Sri Lankan startups get access to global markets, international investors through ‘Xeleration’

Since the launch of the program last year, Xeleration has attracted the attention from many startups from around the country. Startups applied via www.xeleraiton.xyz to stand a chance to be selected to the next phase and 10 out of 100 applicants made their investment pitching to a team from Infocomm Investment who flew into Sri Lanka end-last month.

The startups were asked on why they should be sent for the program and what made their startup unique. The global exchange program in Singapore is an opportunity for startups to expand into global markets, get mentored by some of the finest entrepreneurs across the globe and showcase their startup to international investors. After challenging considerations and decisions, Infocomm Investment selected the five startups for the final Global Exchange program. They are as follows:

Adroit Logic builds the most advanced Enterprise Integration products used by some of the largest organisations across the world. They strive on the architecture, performance and quality of our products which are designed by a highly skilled team with years of experience in Enterprise Integration, to be a world apart in quality. Representing for Xeleration is Asankha Perera – Founder and CTO.

Wifyer is the smartphone application behind the world’s first crowd sourced mobile Wifi network. It is a revolutionary way of sharing one’s mobile hotspot ensuring connectivity to data seekers where ever he/she may be in the world, whilst rewarding the sharers of mobile data. This is done by utilising the concept of sharing economy. Wifyer is patented and will soon be available on iOS, Windows and as desktop clients. Representing for Xeleration is Suren Pinto – CEO. 

OMAK Technologies ‘We simply make restaurant operations run smoothly and effectively, while ensuring that we provide our customers a truly scalable cloud solution’. Representing for Xeleration are Ehantha Sirisena (CEO) and Chrishan Perera (Co-Founder).

PayMedia provides a new custom experience by providing self-banking on kiosk. They facilitate complete branch automation for financial services company on M2M (Machine to Machine) concepts. PayMedia provides the end to end solution staring from the customer experience to integrations up to Core Banking. Their effort is to improve the process efficiency by automation and ensuring higher rates of return-on-investment for our customers. Representing for Xeleration is Kanishka Weeramunda – CEO.

nCinga is in the  mission of driving 4th Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) by unlocking the power of data. Representing for Xeleration are Imal Kalutotage (CEO) and Martin Strommer (Co-Founder).

Mangala Karunaratne who is the CEO of Calcey Technologies will be the Managing Director for the program who will be with the startups in Singapore to learn from their acceleration program as well as the startup eco-system in Singapore to localise it to a local context thereby creating a Sri Lankan accelerator program. Mangala started his career in Silicon Valley, where he held various Internet engineering and management roles at Fortune 1000 technology companies and dot-coms. In addition to Calcey, he founded eConceptions, RideLanka, OneClickTel, thrive.li and a few other companies. 

Xeleration is an initiative supported by SLASSCOM, ICTA, Lanka Angel Network (LAN) and Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL). OUSL has opened up a dedicated space at it Colombo campus to host selected startups for acceleration.
