A pioneer in the garments industry Hirdaramani Group has come forward to sponsor the Career Guidance and Counselling initiative offered exclusively to students and youth participating at EDEX Expo 2016 in Colombo and Kandy.

EDEX Careers has partnered with the Career Guidance Academy in this endeavour. Annually, more than 8,000 visitors to EDEX Expos, mostly belonging to the age group of 18-25, benefit from the psychometric testing based one-on-one career counselling carried out by over 100 professional career counsellors who are members of the Academy. The counselling helps the participants mostly students and first time job seekers to get a deeper understanding of their innate strengths, values and attitudes in deciding the best profession or career for themselves.

Commenting on the partnership, Hirdaramani Group Head of Human Resources Chamindra Perera Dassanayake stated, “The Hirdaramani Group has been investing in the future of young Sri Lankans for many years. Oureducation program covers a range of CSR initiatives ranging from infrastructure development to the provision of school uniforms and learning materials. We have always had a focus on nurturing and developing education in the country. The partnership with EDEX Careers is an important step towards strengthening our commitment to empower the youth and communities we work with.”

EDEX Chairman Kamal Abeysinghe stated, “Most often students, school leavers and youth come to us without a clear direction of their future career choices. Some are seen following dreams without understanding what it takes to achieve them. Services we offer lead to a professional approach to make informed decisions. As a responsible corporate citizen Hirdaramani Group has demonstrated a genuine desire to orient our young generation towards their best higher education and career options by supporting this initiative. We are most thankful to them.”

EDEX Expo Sri Lanka’s largest higher education and careers exhibition organised by the Royal College Union will be held on 22 to 24 January and on 30 and 31 January at the Kandy City Centre, Kandy.
