Germany donates applied bio-systems machine to Peradeniya Uni

 German Ambassador Dr. Jüergen Morhard handed over gene research equipment to the Peradeniya University’s Department of Animal Science Professor Missaka Wijayagunwardane

German Ambassador Dr. Jüergen Morhard recently handed over gene research equipment to Peradeniya University’s Department of Animal Science Professor, Missaka Wijayagunwardane. The high-tech gene research machine was donated by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany to further research in the area of identifying different genes and their expression.

The handing over of the ‘QST 7500 Real-Time PCR Machine’ together with a laptop will aid the university researchers to analyse gene differentiation and identify the particular expression of a gene as high or low. A real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is a laboratory technique of molecular biology based on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which is an amplification of a particular DNA sequence.  

This Applied Bio-systems 7500 Real-Time PCR system offers high performance, multi colour real-time PCR which ever direction the research takes. The diagnostic research instrument delivers reliable performance and dye-flexibility needed to generate reliable data.
