President to attend CHOGM 2015 in Malta

President Maithripala Sirisena will leave for Malta on 26 November to attend the 2015 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

CHOGM 2015 will be held at Fort St. Angelo in Birgu from 27-29 November.

Sri Lanka hosted the biennial event, which brings together Heads of State and government from the 53 countries in the Commonwealth, in 2013.

President Sirisena, who is the current Chair-in-Office in the Commonwealth will hand over the position to Malta at the 2015 CHOGM.

Also, when leaders gather for the CHOGM in Malta later this month, they will select a new Secretary-General for the 53-member association.
