Known as the home of Sri Lankan hospitality, Jetwing Hotels picked up a total of five awards at the World Travel Awards, marking the eighth consecutive year Jetwing has emerged victorious at the Awards.

Established in 1993, World Travel Awards seeks to acknowledge, reward, and celebrate excellence in all sectors of the tourism industry. Today, the WTA brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.

The annual program is renowned as the most prestigious and comprehensive in the travel and tourism industry, with this year being the celebration of a historic 22nd anniversary. Each year WTA covers the globe with a series of regional gala ceremonies staged to recognise and celebrate individual and collective successes within each key geographical region.

This year, Jetwing Lagoon, Jetwing Vil Uyana, and Jetwing Blue stood dominant in their categories, winning the same awards as last year – for (respectively) Sri Lanka’s Leading Spa Resort, Sri Lanka’s Leading Boutique Hotel, and Sri Lanka’s Leading Wedding Venue. Joining the victors is Jetwing Lighthouse, winning the award for Sri Lanka’s Leading Resort and Jetwing Yala, for Sri Lanka’s Leading Family Resort.  Jetwing Lagoon and Jetwing Vil Uyana are both marvels of architecture and design with the former being one of Bawa’s finest creations along with Jetwing Lighthouse, and Jetwing Vil Uyana an unparalleled combination of nature and luxury. Jetwing Blue and Jetwing Lagoon are situated in the calm fishing town of Negombo, and the birthplace of the company as well. Rounding up the winners is Jetwing Yala, known as the beacon of the Deep South of Sri Lanka. Speaking in relation to the event, held at the InterContinel Grand Stanford Hong Kong, Jetwing’s Head of Sales and Marketing Ishanth Gunewardene remarked: “Sri Lanka is definitely the destination to watch out for in the next five to 10 years. Winning these awards shows that our service, our locations, and our hospitality remains unmatched – which we will further improve on, through our exciting new projects that will be unveiled very soon.”
