Taiwan is internationally renowned for textile development. The highly successful Taiwan Textile Fairs creates a common platform for class leading textile manufacturers with their product ranges to meet with Sri Lankan garment manufacturers. The fairs will showcase leading edge knit, functional and other textiles to Sri Lankan apparel manufacturers. The fair schedule is as follows: 27-28 November (Fri/Sat) – Colombo, Taj Samudra, Grand Crystal Ballroom.

In 2015, the Taiwan Textile Federation, which focuses on making high quality functional fabrics available to manufacturers in the segment, is exhibiting a diverse range of textiles.

The Sri Lanka apparel industry is growing strong year on year. According to the Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association, Sri Lanka’s apparel exports rose annually from $ 3.16 billion (2009) to $ 4.74 billion (2014). The European Union (EU) and the US are the top two markets for Sri Lanka’s apparel products, accounting for close to 90% of the total. With the growth in economy, Sri Lanka is set to achieve the export target of $ 5 billion by 2016 buoyed by rising export demand.

Sri Lanka is known as one of the world’s most renowned fashion sourcing locations, with a wide range of global brands due to a global reputation for high-quality and ethical product standards.

Owing to the continued expansion of Sri Lanka’s apparel industry, its demand for textiles is growing fast. Currently, Sri Lanka has a heavy reliance on imported textiles. According to Euromonitor, the country’s industrial production of textiles amounted to only $ 0.85 billion, while it imported more than $ 2.2 billion of such items in 2014, including both knitted and woven fabrics.

Thus, the Taiwan Textile Fairs in South Asia 2015 is an excellent opportunity for Sri Lankan apparel manufacturers, exporters, brand-owners, buying houses, buying agents, big retailers, importers, etc. to interact with manufacturers from Taiwan to source the required high quality fabrics and products that add value. The fairs will also introduce Sri Lankan manufacturers to new product categories to develop for the growing demand in the South Asian market as well as export market.

Sean Tsai, Overseas Market Development Department, Taiwan Textile Federation remarked, “This year we are bringing a whole new range with a focus on knitted and functional textiles which will add value to products made by Sri Lankan garment manufacturers and exporters.”

The fairs will showcase a wide variety of products ranging from Raschel Knitting Lace, Functional Active-Casual Fabric, Texture Fabric, Double Knit Fleece, R+Spandex Jersey, Garment Trims & Accessories (Buttons, Snap Buttons, Jean Buttons, Rivets, Eyelets, etc.), Single and Double Knit Fabric, Acrylic Yarn, Technical Stretch Fabric, Tweed Fabric, Light Weight Fabric, Bi-stretch Fabric, A/W Melange, Seamless Sportswear, Functional Sportswear, Woven, Knit, Lace and Jacquard fabric and many more.

Organised by the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) and the Bureau of Foreign Trade and represented by Worldex India Exhibition and Promotion Ltd., this annual event caters to textile and garment manufacturers, importers, exporters, buyers, merchandisers and retailers across India and Sri Lanka for their sourcing requirements.

The event is supported by the Export Development Board (EDB) of Sri Lanka and leading textile associations of Sri Lanka such as the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF); the Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association (SLAEA); Sri Lanka Apparel Brands Association (SLABA) and the Sri Lanka Apparel Sourcing Association (SLASA)

The 2014 Taiwan Textile Fairs South Asia in Colombo was much appreciated by the industry buyers who saw successful business deals take place during the course of the fairs.
