Kumar Sangakkara bats for cyber security

Sri Lanka’s former cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara was appointed as the world’s first Brand Ambassador for ESET, a worldwide leader in IT security.

Speaking at the press conference, the cricketing legend stressed the importance of cyber security within the country. 

“We live in a world where cybercrimes cost the economy about $77 billion per year. From a very local perspective, I think for both corporate and aspiring producers BUP_DFT_DFT-8-7of technology it will soon be very important. In that sense my role with ESET to create awareness about the importance of their software and the importance of cyber security, I find that it is a very timely and relevant,” noted Sangakkara.  

According to the local distributors of ESET, DCS International the company has witnessed a growth rate of 86% within the past three years. “The year 2016 is going to be a significant year for us, both in Sri Lanka and also in the region and we believe that this strong partnership will enable us to create greater levels of awareness of cyber security and its importance, especially with the youth,” said DCS International Ltd. Chairman Nabhan Akeel.
