SL, Pakistan vow enhanced cooperation in defence, trade, investment

New York: The leaders of Sri Lanka and Pakistan on Saturday reiterated their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and vowed to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, defence and economic relations.

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met on the sidelines of the ongoing 70th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Saturday.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed regional security and the matters related to the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). 

Sharif also said that he hoped more cricket series would be played between the two countries.
