SAP SE announced that MTD Walkers PLC has selected SAP Commercial Project Management (SAP CPM) to strategically supplement its operations in the areas of construction, manufacturing and engineering.

MTD Walkers plans to deploy SAP CPM as well as SAP for Engineering, Construction and Operations (SAP EC&O) in order to improve and increase accuracy of financial planning, accurately monitor the status of projects and precisely analyze every project element.

Indrajith Jayaratne, Group Head of IT, MTD Walkers PLC said, “Over the last few years, MTD Walkers has expanded its operations in the areas of construction, engineering, manufacturing and power. In a constantly changing environment, the quick response to changes in project scope, costs and schedules decide the success of our projects and in order to be equipped with accurate and timely information we need to replace non-integrated legacy systems with an integrated and comprehensive set of solutions. Deploying SAP CPM will help improve the accuracy and reliability of our existing business processes, in turn improving profits and increasing the return-on-investment (RoI) of our various projects.”

SAP CPM together with SAP EC&O will provide the management and decision makers of MTD Walkers access to real-time information, in order to address the challenges of a competitive industry.

“We believe that this improved visibility will make project management more efficient and also will benefit the visibility of the cost structure. We also believe that this deployment will facilitate the completion of more projects on time and within the stipulated budget, using fewer resources and enabling the possibility of higher profits in years to come,” added Jayaratne.

Michael Sathasivam, Country Business Head for SAP in Sri Lanka, said, “We at SAP understand that efficiency and profitability in the present construction industry relies on timely actions taken for changes in cost, schedule and scope. We are delighted and are confident that the successful implementation of SAP CPM and SAP EC&O will nurture the potential for MTD Walkers to establish a significant edge on their digital transformational journey.”

SAP Commercial Project Management provides solutions that address the core business process requirements of companies that offer project-based services to customers. SAP CPM covers multiple processes in an end-to-end scenario spanning the selling, planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling of projects. SAP CPM comes with three important packages which are Project Workspace, Project Financial Planning and Issue and Change Management.
