The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) yesterday claimed that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was the only one person who attacked the Central Bank after the attack carried out on the bank by the LTTE.

Lashing out at Wickremesinghe over the Central Bank (CB) Treasury bond scam, UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha charged that Ranil had used the best way to destroy the county’s economy by advising CB Governor Arjuna Mahendran to carry out the scam.

“A few years ago, the LTTE attacked the Central Bank premises because they knew that the bank was the economic 04-1hub of the country. Wickremesinghe has used the same approach. His attack is not second to that of the LTTE,” Premajayantha alleged.

He further said that Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) General Secretary Patali Champika Ranawaka and Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake should reveal their updated opinions about this Treasury bond issue.

“CB Governor Arjuna Mahendran and his son-in-law have been noticed to appear in Court on 30 October by the Colombo Additional Magistrate. It means that the Court has a doubt about these two. We believe Wickremesinghe’s present best associates, Ranawaka and Dissanayake, should expose their current views about this,” Premajayantha asserted.

Commenting on the shooting incident which occurred recently in Kotahena, Premajayantha charged that the Police had informed Court there were two underworld thugs carrying out election canvassing work with Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake.

“The Police has revealed that Army Sampath and Bloemendhal Sanka were with Ravi to support him for his election campaign. This shows that the United National Party (UNP) Government has been obtaining underworld support for the election. This is their so-called ‘good governance’,” Premajayantha charged.

He stressed that Wickremesinghe would not be able to keep even the Colombo Municipal Council with him if he continued to tear the country apart.

“Wickremesinghe had pledged a federal structure to the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and UNP Jaffna District Candidate Rishad Bathiudeen has promised a separate structure for coastal areas. We believe that the UNP is going to split the country step by step. Wickremesinghe will not be able to protect at least the Colombo Municipal Council area within the country’s map,” Premajayantha claimed.
