Civil organizations and trade unions sign MOU with UNF for good governance

BUP_DFT_DFT-4-6A collective of 75 civil organisations and trade unions Tuesday signed an agreement with the United National Front to consolidate the 8 January victory and to continue the good governance program.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the UNF with the leaders of the civil organisations and trade unions collective. The signing ceremony took place at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute.

The parties agreed among others to introduce a new constitution, create employment opportunities, protect the free education and health services, and to give priority to create unity among communities paving the way for national and religious reconciliation.

Passage of bills to establish the National Audit Act, the Right to Information Act and the Anti-Corruption Act was also included in the MOU.

The event was organised by the citizen organisations and trade union collective, under the initiative of the convener of the National Campaign for a Justifiable Society, Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero.
