China’s Plateno takes over Ranna 212 resort in Tangalle

China-based global hotel chain giant Plateno Group has taken over the management of Ranna 212 resort in Tangalle as part of expanding its footprint in Sri Lanka with its city hotel under Zmax brand slated for opening in 2017.

Plateno said Ranna 212 Beach Resort Tangalle will join Plateno’s Portofino Brand as Portofino Resort Tangalle starting from September 2015.

Portofino Brand is the luxury collection of city hotels, resorts and serviced apartments perfect for guests who are used to luxurious lifestyles and exquisite service and facilities. 

According to www.hotelsmag.com’s July/August 2015 Hotels issue, the Guangzhou, China-based Plateno Hotels Group is ranked seventh biggest globally and Asia’s biggest with 3,717 hotels with 442,490 rooms. Its 7 Days Inn is the biggest budget hotel chain with 2,725 hotels with 380,456 rooms.

Plateno said it is expanding its regional footprint by opening resorts in the prime holiday locations in various Asian destinations, signalling a dramatic expansion and displaying its strong position a diversified hotel operatorwith 20 hotels open or under development throughout the region in eight countries. 

Ranna will be Plateno’s secondhotel in Sri Lanka, the first beinga ZMAXslated to open in Colombo in 2017.
