Cathay Pacific Airways yesterday announced that it will further enhance its services between Colombo and Hong Kong by operating daily non-stop flights between the two cities.

From 25 October , the airline will replace its thrice-weekly one-stop service via Bangkok with direct flights to its hub at Hong Kong International Airport. Cathay Pacific is currently the only airline to offer direct connections between Sri Lanka and Hong Kong on a daily basis.

All flights out of Colombo will be operated by an Airbus A330-300 aircraft equipped with the airline’s award-winning Business 01-2Class, featuring fully flatbed seats and refreshed Economy Class seats.

Cathay Pacific Country Manager Sri Lanka and Maldives Anna Choi said: “Enhancing our schedule last October with the introduction of four-times-weekly direct flights to Hong Kong enabled us to provide passengers with a wider choice of onward destinations with convenient connections. The change was positively received by the local market, which created an opportunity for us to introduce daily non-stop flights to Hong Kong from Colombo. We are confident that there will be high demand both on the passenger and cargo side as we now offer better frequency and connectivity to our international network of over 200 destinations.”

Vishnu Rajendran, Cathay Pacific Sales and Marketing Manager Sri Lanka and Maldives, added: “We are delighted that Hong Kong, one of Asia’s most exciting cities and home to the nearest Disneyland to Sri Lanka, is now even more accessible with our daily non-stop service. The new service allows Hong Kong-bound business travellers an opportunity to maximise their time further, enabling them to return on the same day should they wish to. Passengers will also now be able to seamlessly connect to destinations in China, Japan, Korea, North America and Australia, amongst others, every day of the week, thereby offering added convenience.”

With the new service enhancements, the airline will no longer offer services between Colombo and Bangkok. Cathay Pacific will provide alternative arrangements for all passengers with ticked bookings to Bangkok.
