JHU breaks from UPFA

The Jathka Hela Urumaya (JHU) yesterday said that it had decided to withdraw from the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and would contest the forthcoming General Elections from a separate platform pushing for good governance and democracy.

JHU General Secretary Patali Champika Ranawaka said at a media briefing that the party’s Central Committee had decided to contest the elections from a new party, which was yet to be formed.
