Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and Maldives Jean-Marin Schuh paid a courtesy call on State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene at the Ministry premises earlier this week.

A brief discussion was held on matters concerning mutual interests and bilateral relevance during the session.

Meanwhile, the State Minister recalled the support extended by the French Government for the demining process in recent times. Speaking on the present engagement of troops in UN missions, he said that military expertise of Sri Lankan troops could be extended to any country on request.

“We have allocated a range of training slots for foreign nations and vis-à-vis we also have received numerous training opportunities from other countries,” the Minister also said.

Responding, Ambassador Schuh pledged to uphold close defence ties with the Ministry of Defence during the session.

State Minister Wijewardene presented a memento to the Ambassador Schuh to mark the occasion.
