TMS Awards set to celebrate regional shipping excellence

  • Industry-backed gala awards announces its call for entries to recognise the best from the Middle East and Indian subcontinent’s shipping and maritime industry

TMS Awards 2014 hosted some of the region’s most prominent personalities from the shipping and maritime industry

 

The Maritime Standard Awards (TMS Awards) 2015 is the highlight of the year for the maritime industry’s key decision-makers from across the Middle East and Indian subcontinent. The high-profile annual awards’ gala dinner will recognise the achievements of the industry’s most outstanding performers and reward their success.



The awards, which will take place on 9 November at the Atlantis The Palm in Dubai, will be graced by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group. 

A total of 24 awards will be presented, with over 800 of the industry’s heavyweights expected to attend. TMS managing director Trevor Pereira said: “The event aims to acknowledge and celebrate some of the most influential companies and individuals in the shipping and maritime sectors within the region. Apart from the established list of awards successfully presented last year, there will be two new categories for Ship Manager of the Year and Corporate Social Responsibility of the Year.”



A host of leading companies from the region’s shipping and maritime industries and other related sectors have already confirmed their attendance, with the Federal Transport Authority – Land and Maritime endorsing the event. It has also received tremendous support from industry giants including Abu Dhabi Ports, ADNATCO & NGSCO, ADP Marine Services, Clarkson’s Platou, DP World, DNV GL, Dubai Trading Agency (DTA), Gulf Energy Maritime PJSC, Islamic P&I Club, Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC), the Mercmarine Group of Companies, Milaha, Nakilat-Keppel Offshore and Marine (NKOM), Oman Shipping Company S.A.O.C, Samsara Group,Sical Logistics, Sohar Ports and Emirates Classification Society (Tasneef). The awards also have the support of regional trade associations such as The Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO), the UAE Shipping Association (UAESA), the Dubai Shipping Agents Association (DSAA), the Organisation of Islamic Shipowners Association (OISA) and the Dubai Council for Marine and Maritime Industries (DCMMI).



Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al Ahmad Al-Sabah, Chief Executive of the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC), said: “The 2014 Awards were really like a who’s who of the region’s ports and shipping industry. It provided a great opportunity for networking as well as celebration, and I am greatly looking forward to attending this year’s event.”
