The Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) announced yet another internationally reputed conference, the eighth installment of the International Perspectives on Water Resources and the Environment Conference (IPWE 2016) hosted by The Environmental Resources Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE-EWRI) in Colombo at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel from 4-6 January 2016. Founded in 1999, The Environmental and Water Resources Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE-EWRI) has over 26,000 members worldwide and is a specialty institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Founded in 1852, ASCE is America’s oldest national engineering society. The Colombo conference will attract over 300 foreign delegates who are high-end upmarket tourists, according to Vipula Wanigasekera, CEO of SLCB. The IPWE Conference Series is known for presentations on a wide variety of topics related to water resources and the environment. Among the many anticipated items at IPWE 2016, attendees have access to tremendous keynote speakers, a multitude of diverse and interesting technical sessions, social and networking events, and the opportunity to interact with colleagues on an international level. While sessions will include topics on both developed and developing economies, much of the focus of this conference will be on water resources and the environment in developing countries, especially in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. The technical program includes engineers, scientists, planners, and legislative and academic professionals from around the globe. The conference will feature specialty topics, coastal/tsunami topics and public health and hydrology pertaining specifically to Sri Lanka. “I am looking forward to attending the IPWE Conference in Colombo where I can share insights and experiences with other professionals on many challenging issues on water resources and the environment. I strongly believe this technical exchange of ideas and perspectives will contribute towards finding solutions to some of the challenges facing us today,” said Curt Elmore, EWRI Member.
