People’s Mobile Banking facility extended to Sri Lankan migrants

The pioneering State bank, People’s Bank joined hands with Mobitel to offer all Sri Lankan migrants the facility of enrolling in the People’s Mobile Banking Service, thus unfolding yet another facet of the bank’s unique portfolio of banking services. Marking the launch of this facility, People’s Bank made arrangements to present 25 Sri Lankan migrants their People’s Mobile Banking facility-enabled SIM card at a ceremony held under the theme ‘Job Gate’ which was organised by the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau at the Sanath Jayasuriya Stadium, Matara. The event which was held under the distinguished patronage of Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Dilan Perera comprised several invitees including Amal Senadhilankara, Chairman, Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau, N. Vasantha Kumar, Chief Executive Officer/General Manager of People’s Bank, Deepal Abeysekara, Head of Marketing and Public Affairs, People’s Bank, Sunil Wanniarchchi, Actg. Deputy General Manager (International Banking), Chandrasiri Fernando, Assistant General Manager  (Marketing and Product Development), K.D. Karunathilake, Regional Manager, Matara, Thushara Hinguralaarchchi, Manager, Electronic Banking Services, Roshan Nagendran, Senior Account Manager (Business Marketing) Mobitel and members of the staff and customers. With the introduction of this facility, Sri Lankan migrants can now enrol in this scheme prior to their departure by visiting the People’s Bank branch located at the premises of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau and obtain their People’s Mobile Banking SIM card and activate the facility by simply dialing #488#. The bank has already made arrangements to extend the People’s Mobile Banking Service to Sri Lankan migrants living in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kingdom of Kuwait, State of Qatar, USA, UK, Australia, Israel, Italy and Cyprus completely free of charge. People’s Mobile Banking Service has been able to stretch the limits of customer convenience and provides customers the opportunity of indulging in an array of banking transactions with ease. This will indeed make the lives of the Sri Lankan migrant even more convenient as they are able to check their account balance from anywhere they operate from while also attending to transactions such as fund transfers, payment of utility bills and even reloading Mobitel accounts, thus enabling them to stay connected with their motherland. What’s more, in the case of voice calls, the holders of this SIM card will also be entitle to concessionary call rates when they dial *141* 94 < number of the Sri Lankan receiver># to connect with their friends and relatives living in Sri Lanka.
