Exterminators, Sri Lanka’s premier pest management company won two awards at the recently concluded National Business Excellence Awards 2013, organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka. Exterminators won the Silver award in the small category and won the third place in other services sector competing with larger blue chip companies. This is the fifth consecutive year Exterminators have won awards at the National Business Excellence Awards. The Exterminators Ltd. stepped into this fierce but amazing pest world with just one man with spray gun, but with more force, drive and passion it has become Sri Lanka’s premier pest control company today, winning 26 awards for business excellence, brand excellence, industrial excellence and entrepreneurship. Exterminators is Sri Lanka’s only ISO 9001;2008 QMS, ISO 14001;2004 EMS and OHSAS 18001;2007 certified pest control company. The company is also allied with the National Pest Management Association USA, the Singapore Pest Management Association and the American Mosquito Control Association. Locally the company is also allied with the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, the National Construction Association of Sri Lanka and the Chamber of the Construction Industry. The company’s CSR activities are themed around “We Care; back to community” and was initiated in 2008. The company has defined CSR as CSER which means corporate social and environmental responsibility. The environmental aspect was included considering the Triple Bottom-line concept (people, planet, profit). Some of the company’s recent activities in this regard are as follows: ‘Stop Dengue’ initiated in 2008 to educate the general public about the deadly dengue threat in a more frequent manner and adopt an integrated approach to ‘fight the bite’ by addressing all issues with all stakeholders to minimise the loss of human life. ‘Stop Killing Bees’ - The company begun yet another environmental related campaign due to the alarming fact that if bees disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. This would mean no more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man. ‘Green Planet’ - This green planet program is a new initiative by Exterminators. Every month 100 trees will be planted at schools throughout the island. The first program will begin in December 2013. Exterminators adhere to the Triple Bottom-line concept (Planet, People, Profit) while providing services to its customers. Exterminators’ culture is built on constant re-invention, in other words creating an evolution in innovation. The company believes in the concept that continuous improvement can motivate us to make investments that can benefit our performance in years to come.
