Hassen at the helm as Junior Chambers International inducts new Board

JCI (Junior Chambers International) Sri Lanka recently inducted its Board for the year 2011 with the theme for the year 2011 being “Good to Great.”



EVP Business and International Zulfer Hassen, was elected National President for 2011, whilst Anupama Welgamage was appointed Secretary General and Jc. Radhika De Silva and Jc. Ruwan Senanayake were appointed Deputy National President and General Legal Counsel respectively at the national convention.

Hassan has been a JCI member since 2004, the year in which he also won the Young Entrepreneur Award and was the young ICT professional winner in 2006, awarded by ICTA. He has extensive experience in the field of Information Technology and process consulting. He holds an MBA from the University of Western Sydney and is the 55th National President of JCI Sri Lanka.  Other Board members include Executive Vice Presidents Jc. Sumedha Alahakoon, Jc. Charitha Bandara and Jc. Dr. Malarvili Anton and Vice Presidents Jc. Avindra Pieris and Jc. Anushly Sithamparam, along with Treasurer Jc. M. Mayoorathen.

Currently in progress are events such as ‘The Leadership Academy’ which comprises of trainings and seminars for the youth and has great potential in producing young individuals with the ability to perform duties responsibly and effectively.

The well famed TOYP awards ceremony, which annually felicitates 10 outstanding young individuals between the ages of 18-40, in 10 diverse categories, is prominently in their agenda.  Their International events include the Asia Pacific Conference to be held in Manila, Philippines and the World Congress in Brussels.  JCI has contributed immensely towards the development and recognition of youth talent in Sri Lanka. It is present in more than 100 countries around the world and is actively focusing on inspiring projects related to Youth Development and Training.
