Sri Lanka’s largest e-commerce organisation, Kapruka.com has unveiled an exciting shopping experience to Sri Lankans through its ‘Kapruka Global Shop’ which will give customers access to over 50 million global products right here in Sri Lanka.

Kapruka is a billion rupee company which commenced operations in February 2002 with the launch of Kapruka.com, which is Sri Lanka’s most popular and largest online store.

The ‘Kapruka Global Shop’ has its doors open to the discerning Sri Lankan shopper and will house a wide variety of products from clothing to electronics  listed on the popular Amazon.com and Ebay.com online shopping portals.

Brain child behind this unique initiative, Dulith Herath, who is both founder and Chairman of Kapruka promises that the Kapruka Global Shop which will be located in Colombo 4 will take shopping to a whole new level.

“There are a limited number of Sri Lankans who use the online shopping facility via Amazon.com and Ebay.com, but often they pay a very high shipping rate to ship items to Sri Lanka from the United States. This is where the Kapruka Global Shop will come in and allow Sri Lankans to order items from these popular websites and get them shipped for a very nominal shipping fee,” Herath, who is also dubbed as Sri Lanka’s E-Commerce King emphasised.

“We have a container coming to Sri Lanka every fortnight from US, and all the orders made via the Kapruka Global Shop will be shipped to a US based address which will then be transported to Colombo in the container within a very short period of time, thereby allowing Sri Lankan based customers to save significantly on the shipping,” he noted.

Accordingly, customers who order products through the Kapruka Global Shop will benefit with a massive saving as they will only be paying a fraction of the shipping cost instead of the usually high shipping costs from US to Sri Lanka.

The state of the art, technically savvy Kapruka Global Shop will house computers with internet access, allowing customers to visit the shop, browse products and purchase it. “Subsequent to purchasing the product, the global shop staff will provide the customer with a receipt which will also include the shipping cost. Customers will be informed once the product arrives in Sri Lanka, and they can come and collect it,” he noted.

“Amazon.com for example has some fabulous bargain offers for online shoppers, you can purchase almost anything often at quite a bargain, and I believe with Kapruka introducing the global shopping concept right at your fingertips, shoppers can immensely benefit with world renowned products at a very bargain price,” Herath noted.

Herath stressed that a customer can buy anything from computers, toys, clothes, jewellery, CDs to even books through the Kapruka Global Shop.

“We will change commerce in Sri Lanka with this initiative,” he promises while adding that unlike on most websites which offers cheap low quality Chinese products, the Kapruka Global Shop will often offer high quality products from the US, with a testament to quality.

Herath also has plans to further propagate his Global Shop concept to others parts of the country, including Kandy and Kurunegala, thereby giving rural masses access to high quality products at the click of a button.

“Only a limited number of Sri Lankans have internet access and we want all Sri Lankans to enjoy this opportunity, so plans are already in the pipeline to expand this concept to other parts of the country, giving everyone equal opportunity to enjoy a one of a kind global shopping experience,” he added.
