National Tea Awards recognise outstanding performance of Akbar Brothers

Akbar Brothers Ltd. received nine National Tea Awards at the ceremony held on 9 December presided by President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena.

Carrying away the main award of Best Tea Exporter of the Year 2016 and amongst the other awards won by the company were Highest Foreign Exchange Earner 2016 for Value Added Tea Category; Best Value Added Tea Exporter 2016 and Highest Tea Market Coverage 2016.

Akbar Brothers Ltd. Chairman Abbas Akbarally and Akbar Brothers Ltd. Consultant T. Sambasivam, both of whom having over 60 years of dedicated life time service to the tea industry were bestowed with Life Time Service Awards.

Akbar Brothers Ltd. produce their products in their state-of-the-art facility of over one million square feet which is certified for International Food Standards (IFS), FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, ISO 9001, HACCP, GMP along with social accountability compliances of BSCI, ICS and other customer specified standards.
