Malaysian Air beats forecast; warns of fuel cost

(Reuters) – Malaysian Airline System, the country’s national carrier, on Friday reported an operating profit that improved several times over the previous year even as its net profit declined by 65 percent.

SriLankan Catering achieved the rare feat of winning two of the seven prestigious Mercury Awards – the most sought after accolades in the global travel catering industry presented by the International Travel Catering Association (ITCA).
SriLankan Chairman Nishantha Wickremasinghe and Sarath Fernando, CEO of SriLankan Catering, presented the awards to President, Mahinda Rajapaksa recently.

Mobitel rings Rs. 1.94 b pre-tax profits; tops 4 m customer base

Top former Central Banker Dr. Ranee Jayamaha to be new Chairperson at second largest private sector bank as iconic Rienzie leaves after long illustrious career.; Two other new faces on HNB Board: Mano Tittawella and Dr. Willie Gamage

Top professional and former career Central Banker Dr. Ranee Jayamaha is to be appointed as the Chairperson of Hatton National Bank (HNB), the country’s second largest private sector bank.
Jayamaha’s appointment will be following the retirement of HNB’s iconic figure Rienzie T. Wijetilleke next month.
No formal announcement has been made yet but banking circles were buzzing with the news.
