BMICH, Sri Lanka’s iconic landmark, recently organised an awareness program on industrial waste management for its staff and tenants in order to maximise its contribution to the wellbeing of society by following effective and recommended processes for the disposal of different types of waste generated during day to day operations.
The program was conducted in conjunction with the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Province Development.
“BMICH hosts a multiple number of tenants at its premises and also is the host for many local and international events which attracts thousands of visitors to its premises on a daily basis. This awareness program is the start of an initiative to implement a more efficient and effective process for waste management,” said BMICH Chief Executive Sunil Dissanayake. The Industrial Waste Management Awareness Program that was conducted with the assistance of an expert from the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Province Development discussed ways and means of sorting waste under institutional level, further segregation of waste for the recycling industry, how to use bio-degradable waste as compost and implementing a total waste minimisation program.
