Two members of the 28-member provisional Sri Lanka squad for the T20I and ODI cricket series in England have been tested positive for COVID-19.

Fast bowling all-rounders Dananjaya Lakshan and Ishan Jayaratne were tested positive on Saturday when an antigen test was run on them prior to getting the first dose of the vaccine against the COVID-19 pandemic.

SLC Management Committee Member Ashley de Silva said that around 40 national cricketers received their first jabs on Saturday at the National Blood Bank after being subjected to an antigen test.

De Silva said that the two players who were tested positive have been moved to a separate environment where they will undergo 14 days quarantine. He said they were not part of the 18-member squad named to leave for Bangladesh on 16 May to play a series of three ODIs in Dhaka. The squad to Bangladesh will go into a bio-bubble from today prior to their departure. (ST)
