Nawaz takes over Thomians coaching

Former Isipathana, CR & FC and Sri Lanka crack flanker, Shamly Nawaz will be crossing over from Zahira to St. Thomas as their Head Coach of the 2019 rugby outfit.

Shamly played for the Green Shirts in 1996 and 1997 before joining Havies and then crossed over to Longdon Place Club. He was an automatic choice for the national sevens outfit for many tours. His coaching stint started at his alma mater with the Junior outfits at Under 12 to Under 16. He looked after the Junior national outfits forward unit before crossing over to Zahira College in 2013. Zahira has done well in the last five years under his guidance having produced some top quality players for the club.
