Eight young talented footballers have left the island to represent Sri Lanka at the first-ever Under-12 MILO Champions Cup, which will be held in Spain in partnership with FC Barcelona. Nestlé MILO and FC Barcelona have a four-year global partnership aimed at enhancing children’s quality of life, with a number of programs to make healthy and more active lifestyles aspirational and accessible to children across the world.

Nestlé MILO has long been associated with physical activity and has supported millions of Sri Lankan children via sports and nutrition campaigns for more than 30 years, while FC Barcelona is one of the world’s leading football clubs.

The Sri Lankan team comprises six males and two females who will compete against 13 countries such as Malaysia, Australia, Jamaica and others. Each match will be played by a five-member team, which will include one girl and four boys.

The ‘Milo Road to Barcelona’ campaign kicked-off in Sri Lanka with an All-Island Under-12 Sri Lanka Schools Football Tournament, organised by the Sri Lanka Schools’ Football Association, under the patronage of the Ministry of Education. The tournament was open to boys and girls born in 2008 and 2009.
