Sajitha and Mario excel at Sri Lanka Logistics Leadership Awards

Mario Fonseka was awarded the CEO of the Year in Logistics Sector and Sajitha De Mel was awarded the Young Achiever of the Year Award in Logistics at the fourth Sri Lanka Logistics Leadership Awards. The event was graced by Member of Parliament Sujeewa Senasinghe and accompanied by the Director General of Sri Lanka Customs P.S.M. Charles. This was hosted by the World Quality Awards in partnership with the CMO Asia and was held at Hotel Taj, Colombo on 17 July. 

The prestigious award for ‘CEO of the Year’ is given to individuals who performed well at the capacity of CEO, and took the companies to the next growth level. Mario Fonseka is the Managing Director/CEO at the CWT Globelink Colombo Ltd., a company he founded in the year 2001 with two others, which today employs over 200 people, to provide total logistics solutions with the integrated technology support. CWT Globelink Colombo is a registered BOI Venture and generates 40% transshipment revenue to the country acting as a logistics hub. CWT Globelink Colombo is recognised as the leader in cargo consolidation and connect direct vessels for imports and exports trading.

The prestigious award for ‘Young Achiever of the Year’ is given to individuals below the age of 35 who have displayed outstanding performance throughout the early stages of their careers. Sajitha De Mel is the first Sri Lankan nominee by the Sri Lanka Freight Forwarders Association to represent the country at the ‘Young International Freight Forwarder of the year 2013’ held in UK. He also won ‘The Outstanding Young Persons Award in the year 2010’ by Junior Chamber International. He presently serves as a visiting lecturer for Ocean University of Sri Lanka and Institute of Shipping and Logistics. He is a Graduate Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors and a Member of the Management Club. In 2013, he was conferred the title of Certified Professional Marketer by the Asian Marketing Federation and he is an All Island Justice of Peace.
