SGK Kishore, CEO, GHIAL has received the prestigious trophy from Angela Gittens, Director General, Airports Council International and Bongani Maseko, CEO, Airports Company South Africa during the 27th ACI Africa/World Annual General Assembly, Conference & Exhibition in Port Louis, Mauritius on 17 October.

The trophy was formally handed over following the announcement by the Airports Council International (ACI) in its world-wide Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey for the year 2016, ranking RGIA as the ‘World’s # 1 Airport’ in the 5-15 million passengers per annum (MPPA) category in March 2017. Furthermore, this year’s ACI ASQ Award marks the 8th consecutive year of Global Top 3 ranking by RGIA in its size category, making both the city of Hyderabad and entire India proud.

The ASQ survey statistics shows that Hyderabad Airport has steadily improved its score from 4.4 in 2009 to 4.9 in 2016 (measured on a scale of 1 to 5). To add, Hyderabad Airport has also the honour to be the first airport in India to have been awarded by ACI, The Director General’s Roll of Excellence Award in 2014 for consistently earning the top five ranking in its category in the ASQ for five years in a row.

Speaking on this recognition, SGK Kishore, CEO, GHIAL, said, “It has been an absolute delight to receive the prestigious ACI ASQ Award trophy on behalf of Hyderabad Airport for being adjudged as the World’s # 1 Airport in its category. This recognition certainly boosts Brand Hyderabad and positions the resurgent India onto the world’s canvas. This is a culmination of the incessant drive and passion towards raising our bar for service and operational excellence. It is also been the outcome of combined efforts of the entire Hyderabad Airport community and our stakeholders including Ministry of Civil Aviation, CISF, Immigration, Customs and our service partners including airlines, concessionaires, housekeeping and other support staff making Hyderabad Airport the very best airport in the world. We expect similar kind of cooperation to carry the legacy forward.”

Further commenting on the achievement, Kishore, said, “Hyderabad Airport is gearing up to offer a set of whole new experiences for passengers with the airport expansion on the anvil. As part of an effort to continuously improve the service offerings and passenger experience, the airport has introduced several path-breaking innovations under the umbrella of its signature #PassengerIsPrime programme viz. deployment of dedicated Passenger Service Associates for helping passengers in need; first-of-its-kind Express Security Check Area for passengers without check-in luggage; new baggage conveyer belt for domestic passengers; ongoing comprehensive upgrade of our overall Baggage Handling System and various other improvements. A host of new technology-enabled passenger processing solutions are also being prepared for rollout, which will further cement Hyderabad Airport’s position as a leader in leveraging technology for delivering enhanced passenger experience.”

As the industry’s most comprehensive passenger service benchmarking tool, the ACI ASQ Survey has reliably captured passengers’ immediate appraisal from check-in through departure at the gate at more than 300 airports worldwide.
