The third edition of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Sri Lanka) celebrated the highs of a resilient real estate market, at The Athenee Hotel, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok in Thailand.

The exclusive black-tie gala dinner saw Prime Group garnering the award for Best Developer and securing Best Luxury Condo Development (Colombo) and Best Housing Development (Colombo) for its Prime Grand and Prime Urban Art projects, respectively. The developer was also the unchallenged recipient of the Special Recognition in CSR.

The central panel of judges said: “Prime Group embody excellence and dedication in their craft, consistently building impeccable luxe residences aimed at serving all walks of life, with each project flawlessly exuding value, security, comfort, and a sense of community. Their passion for the environment is deeply rooted in their belief that every small act count, implementing eco-friendly materials and processes for each project, and encouraging residents to live a greener lifestyle.”

One of the night’s highpoints was the presentation of the award for Best Mixed Use Development to The One by The One Transworks Square Ltd. Rising 376 metres high, The One will upon completion in the next few years rank among the tallest buildings in South Asia. The mixed-use site comes with luxury residences, a five-star hotel, commercial spaces, a shopping mall, sky bar, and more.

The One would go on to best eight properties across the region for the title of Best Mixed Use Development (Asia) at the 14th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final, held later in the evening at The Athenee Hotel in Bangkok.

PropertyGuru Group CEO Hari V. Krishnan said: “Congratulations to the Sri Lankan winners of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards. We are honoured to present these awards to properties that test the limits and conventions of built space in South Asia. It is worth noting that this year’s Sri Lankan victors include one of the region’s tallest structures, mirroring our high ambitions and expectations for this resilient island market.”

The 2019 PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Sri Lanka) competition was preceded by the exclusive Leaders Luncheon at the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo in June. The luncheon served as an opportunity to present the award for 2019 Sri Lanka Real Estate Personality of the Year to Dr. Jagath Munasinghe, the Chairman of the Urban Development Authority (UDA), and Director General, National Physical Planning Department (NPPD).

Nirmal de Silva, CEO of Paramount Realty, returned as chairperson of this year’s panel of judges, consisting of Emeritus Prof. Chitra Weddikkara, managing director of QServe Ltd.; Nandike D. Samaranayake, chartered architect, AIA (SL); Natalie Pendigrast, founder and director of Pendi Ltd.; Nilesh de Silva, chartered architect and director of Kahawita De Silva & Associates Ltd. (KDS); Roshan Madawela, founding director and CEO of Real-Estate Intelligence Unit (RIU); Stephanie Balendra, director of Homes N Spaces Lanka Properties Ltd.; and William Vincent Asoka Tilakawardane, fellow of the Institute of Project Managers (Sri Lanka).
