The Management Club (TMC) Colombo conducted its 15th Annual General Meeting at Hotel Galadari, Colombo with the participation of a large number of members and founder members of TMC. 

The Management Club (TMC) was formed in 2001 under the auspices of the Chartered Management Institute – UK Sri Lanka. The branch was established to uplift management practices in Sri Lanka on par with the best international standards, and strives to achieve this by providing constant opportunities for member interaction and participation. 

The meeting commenced with the outgoing Chairman Manjula Wijemanne, addressing the membership. He then Invited President Emeritus Fayaz Saleem to take the head table, and to introduce the New Chairman of TMC Colombo, Dr. Pradeep Edward, who counts over 25 years of corporate experience in both local and multinational companies, in numerous fields, with over five years at CEO capacity. He is a life member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), and further holds three fellowships from the Chartered Institute of Marketing – UK, Institute of Management Specialist – UK, and an Honorary Fellowship from the Institute of Marketing Malaysia (IMM). He is also a Certified Professional Finance Manager and Chartered Marketer from UK. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing/Business Management and Finance. Additionally, he holds a MBA and Ph.D. 

A Past President of SLIM, and Pharma Promoters Association of Sri Lanka, and General Secretary of Sri Lanka Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry. He has been a Judge and Speaker at several local and international events, was recognised and awarded the Deshamanya Award. At present, he holds the post of Secretary General of the Asia Marketing Federation (AMF), the Chief Executive Officer of Lanka Hospitals Diagnostics, and the Chairman of the Management Club – Colombo.

 

Executive Committee

Nishantha Delgoda – Deputy Chairman – is the Chairman of Sriitrims (Far East) Ltd. and Speed Water Systems. He holds a MBA and is a Fellow of ABE, CMI, CAM (UK). A longstanding member of TMC, his contribution has been significant through several positions held.

Priyantha Hapuarachchi – Treasurer – a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, United Kingdom and a Chartered Global Management Accountant. Immediate Past President of the Sri Lanka Russia Business Council. Presently, he functions under the Ministry of Industries as a Board Member for Mantai Salt Ltd., and has held the position of Finance Director/Chief Financial Officer of leading organisations in the private sector. 

Roshnie de Saram – Secretary – A Life Member of TMC since 2002, and an entrepreneur in Advertising, Marketing and Mass Communications from an early age. She holds international qualifications in Business as well as Marketing. With vast experience overseas, working for several international organisations and UN and DPL representatives, she is presently in consultancy and training in addition to multiple businesses. On a special note, she is the founder of a charity organisation for cancer and has been at the helm of several professional bodies and women’s organisations.

Geethika Wickremasinghe – Deputy Treasurer – Highly qualified internationally in finance and counting several years’ experience in blue chip banks and financial institutions in Sri Lanka including Seylan Bank, she is a well-recognised Banker/Financial Advisor attached to a leading licensed financial institution as Deputy General Manager. She is also qualified in Compliance and Money Laundering.

Duneeshya Bogoda – Deputy Secretary – A qualified professional in Business Administration, she is a young entrepreneur specialising in HR. As the owner of Dunee’s Kitchen, she is a Master Chef impairing her knowledge to expatriates. She is also the CEO of DUNEEB, Business Consultants and a visiting lecturer at (IBMS).

L. Rumindra Ranasinghe – Committee Member – A founder member of TMC and life member since 2002 he is a valued member with his experience having been in the Exco of TMC for over a decade. He has multiple overseas and local qualifications in marketing and finance, and 30 years’ experience in marketing and management. Currently MD and CEO of International Marketing Services Ltd., Rent-a-car Realtors and experts in holiday villas. 

Jazaya Hassendeen – Committee Member – A qualified professional in Mass Communications and Journalism, she has been a strong part of TMC for over a decade and is the Chairperson of TMC CSR ‘Differently Abled’. Presently holds the position of Chairperson of Wingro Ltd.

Chatura Wijesuriya – Committee Member – Internationally qualified in management, he has over 35 years of experience in the field of operations management across several diverse industries and held senior management positions in Sri Lankan blue chip companies including MAS Group. Also qualified in Human Resource Management, he is presently Head of HR at Royal Ceramic Lanka PLC.

Ranjith Fernando – Committee Member – A professional banker with multiple qualifications in finance from several countries. Credentials in Banking and Finance include 25 years’ experience at People’s Bank and Seylan Bank. Presently CEO of Sharp Print Holdings. Has held high positions in other organisations including Sri Lanka Association of Printers.

The new Chairman stated in the address to the membership – that it was a great prestige to be elected to head this prestigious institute. He added, “The management is all about networking and getting all managers to face the world and its challenges. Our goal is to bring development to the rural areas and improve our managers. Further, he said that he and his team will be committed to conduct knowledge sharing forums with eminent personalities, and will collaborate with all institutes in the country to uplift the management in Sri Lanka. 

He also noted that most of the traditional events conducted will be continued and the Management quiz will be held in the coming years. He specially thanked Fayaz Saleem for inviting him to take over this role, along with the President and the Board of Management of TMC. He included with thanks to his team and re-confirmed that he was confident with this dynamic team TMC – Colombo can achieve great heights.
