23,217 frontline workers receive vaccine

The Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine as yesterday administered to 23,217 frontline workers from the health, military and Police units.

A total of 118,767 persons have been vaccinated in the five days since vaccine administration began in the island. According to the Epidemiology Unit, 36,396 persons received the vaccine on Monday, 21,329 persons received it the previous day, and 32,539 persons received the vaccine on 30 January.

On 29 January, 5,286 persons received the vaccine.

The first batch of COVID vaccines the country received will target a total of 250,000 frontline workers, with the second round of doses to be administered a month from now. While the next target group are those over the age of 60 years, the Health Ministry is aiming to vaccinate 50% of the country’s eligible population by the end of the year.
