The three day ‘The Power of Leadership’ program was the first of its kind to be held in the country, which helped senior executives understand the importance of creating a positive impact through conversations, actions and behaviours, by incorporating the important modules of leadership and strategy, to address conventional issues leadership positions bring in today’s complex and challenging corporate world.

The program held on 20, 21 and 22 February in Colombo was conducted by Prof. Sudhanshu Palsule, an award winning consultant and leadership coach, who has made a name as one of the world’s leading thinkers in the field of transformative leadership. Programs of this nature have also been delivered at leading universities and corporates including Cambridge UK, INSEAD, MIT, Duke CE and UNICEF.

Palsule, who teaches at Duke CE, ISB, INSEAD and Cambridge, is known to run leadership programs across the globe. His clients include Fortune 500 companies such as Rolls Royce, BMW, PepsiCo, Accenture, Ericsson, Barclays Bank, Unilever, Virgin Group, Standard Chartered Bank, Nielsen, Siemens, Hewlett-Packard, and Astra Zeneca. He is also well known for working with top management teams, where he assists them in creating breakthroughs in their thinking and in the way they operate.

Palsule, who is globally renowned for his transformative impact, inspired decision makers of some of the leading corporates including Mobitel Ltd. and Dipped Products PLC, John Keells PLC and Commercial Credit, Just In Time Group, Amseuro Group and DIMO PLC to understand the various linkages between leadership and strategy, while also helping enhance the leadership mindset on how to execute strategy successfully.

While emphasising that traditional approaches in leadership which involves skills, competencies and behaviours often fall short as leadership is a position that is often isolated, Palsule helped participants understand how to bridge these conventional discrepancies, while also imparting important insights on the participants, to help them become more engaging and accessible and help address issues in relation to isolation.

During the program, Palsule helped senior executives understand and identify the barriers in executing strategies, which can hinder an organisation’s process, while also discussing ways of shifting culture and tackling orthodoxies. The program also provided participants to listen to insights by Palsule on how to understand the psychology behind performance and under performance and in turn help develop high performing teams, while gaining trust of others including subordinated, peers and bosses as well as developing the vital areas of conversations, actions and behaviours.

The three-day program concluded with Palsule focused on helping senior executives develop their capacity to lead an organisation authentically, while also teaching them to develop better self-awareness, and the ability to positively influence others, while becoming an inspiration to others. He also helped the participants develop their leadership power and the ability to lead change; built their trust equity and guided them on how to lead in complex and difficult times. He helped them understand themselves better; and shared insights with them on how to make better choices and take better decisions; as well as guided them on how to develop calmness and wellbeing, which are two very important traits for any successful leader.
