‘Nikon Experience Hub’ (NEH), the newest innovative sales promotion platform by the world-renowned Nikon Co., Japan, was recently unveiled at Photo Technica premises in Colombo by Shintaro Nishimura, Person-in-Charge of the Sri Lankan market for Nikon, Japan.

Photo Technica Managing Director and CEO Harsha Malvenna, GM Manusha Wickramasinghe, Sales Manager Jeevinda Wickramasinghe and Presidents photographer Sudath Silva, were also present together with a host of other invitees at the landmark launch, which opened new vistas for photography in Sri Lanka. At a media conference convened after the ceremonial launch of the NEH, journalists and photographers were given the opportunity to discuss with Nishimura the finer points of Nikon and its reputation and standing as a global Japanese brand. Nishimura also clarified points raised by the media at the question and answer session.

A salient feature which emerged during the interaction was that Sri Lanka was handpicked as the first-ever country in the South Asian region for the launch of the novel Nikon Experience Hub. It’s true that the NEH was unveiled earlier in many parts of the globe, but when it came to the turn of South Asian countries, Sri Lanka was the first choice. Photo Technica is the biggest Nikon distributor for Nikon and oldest business establishment for cameras and accessories under ‘one roof’ in Sri Lanka.

Photo Technica caters to every need in the sphere of photography and is the ultimate choice of both professional and amateur photographers when it comes to selecting a world class Nikon camera, lenses or accessories. Established in 1958, Photo Technica is the exclusive agents for Nikon cameras in Sri Lanka.

What is unique about the NEH is that it serves as a spacious platform for enthusiasts on different levels of their pursuits in photography to leisurely select cameras or lenses of their preference without the intervention of sales persons. The NEH is a state-of-the-art showroom and sales complex, where customers can personally try out the camera models on display and, if satisfied, purchase the equipment of their choice. Nikon of Japan has already opened similar ultra-modern showrooms cum sales complexes in countries such as Singapore and Malaysia.

Expressing his thoughts on the new sales concept, Photo Technica Managing Director/CEO Harsha Malvenna said: “Nikon, Japan readily came forward to establish the ultra-modern NEH showroom and sales complex for Sri Lankan customers in partnership with us purely on the consideration of Photo Technica’s expert knowledge on the subject over the past half a century, experience and exposure, dedicated staff and strong dealer network. A wide selection of Nikon cameras are available at the NEH, and customers can opt for their choice from a range extending from compact cameras to DSLR or select from amongst 64 different models of lenses. Customers can freely try out the cameras and lenses and purchase them only if the equipment meet their expectations.”

Shintaro Nishimura, Person-in-Charge of the Sri Lankan market for Nikon, Japan, addressing journalists and well-known photographers at the event, noted that the strong commercial bond between Nikon, Japan and Photo Technica dates back to 1962. “On the request of Photo Technica, we have decided to afford the opportunity to Sri Lankan customers to purchase Nikon cameras and equipment at special prices cheaper than other markets.”

The NEH is the biggest showroom exclusively for cameras in Sri Lanka. Photo Technica also has under its wing a camera repair and service section equipped with modern digital repair/service technology. Camera repairs and servicing are handled by well qualified technicians trained by Nikon, Japan. In addition, Photo Technica also has under its roof a modern digital colour photo laboratory, a fully-fledged photography studio, Nikon school of photography on par with global teaching standards and a museum of cameras. Photo Technica has clinched an avalanche of local and international awards for its exemplary management style, strategic marketing, excellent after-sales service and modernisation on par with global technical advances.
