‘It’s a Pink Affair’ as Taj celebrates International Women’s Day

  • ‘Strawberry Brunch’ and ‘Pink High Tea’ – A special menu for the special day

On 8 March, Taj Samudra Colombo is set to celebrate the global International Women’s Day in appreciation of women for their achievements and commitment. The luxury city hotel has dedicated this special day with preparations in place at the Ports of Call restaurant with a ‘Strawberry Brunch’ from 12.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. at the Ports of Call and a ‘Pink High Tea’ at The Lattice – the lobby lounge from 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. 

The Ports of Call, famed as the all-day restaurant, will host a ‘Strawberry Brunch’, a large spread with a scrumptious menu, unlimited beer, sparkling wine and live entertainment – for the special ladies who are both strong and soft. 

A refreshing mocktail is rather inviting. Enjoy the brunch at your own pace, at the preferred place – with appetisers and salads, international charcuterie counter, seafood fountain, shooters, gravlax counter, live Caesar salad counter and signature cheese counter, crudités, Japanese corner, brunch egg station, action carvery stations and a wide range of tempting desserts too.  

Appetisers and salad range include roasted lamb salad with raspberry dressing; pork belly pudding with apricots and duck pate with pork jelly are prominent in the international charcuterie counter; similarly, mussels, octopus and clams in the seafood fountain, shooters for a burst of flavour, and classic salmon gravlax, beetroot and orange cured salmon and capers in the gravlax counter; salad and cheese lovers can count on salad and cheese counters for baguette croutons, Caesar dressing and brie, feta, edam, pepper herb cheese plus the cheese condiments with dried apricots and port soaked muscatels; as if customary, maki, nigiri, sushi and sashimi and tempuras dominate the Japanese corner; a selection of international breads with pesto and olive dipping, spreads and butters in the hot gastronome; prawns stuffed squids – Malibu saffron beurre blanc spinach and ricotta dumplings in the main dishes; to conclude with a sweet twist, the broad range of warm and cold desserts with fruity brulets, mousses, tarts, cheesecakes, panna cottas awaiting to be explored.  This brunch is priced at Rs. 3,200 nett per person at Ports of Call.

‘A Pink Affair’ can plausibly enrich the joy and spirit of the bubbly ladies with a ‘Pink High Tea’ at the lobby lounge during the evening from 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m., which is priced at Rs. 2,200 nett per two persons. 

This women’s day themed special high tea menu offers sandwiches, hot savouries and tea sweets. Scottish salmon on pink ciabatta, Cajun roast turkey sandwich in the sandwich range, mini prawn and sweet corn vol-au-vent and deep-fried crab claws as hot savouries while tea sweets including strawberry mirror glaze and freshly baked scones with clotted cream, orange marmalade and berry jam perfectly end an English tea.
