Webinar on ‘Finance and Management Accounting Professionals Navigating COVID-19 Crises’

The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka has organised a webinar on ‘Finance and Management Accounting Professionals Navigating COVID-19 Crises’ on Thursday 21 May from 4 to 6 p.m. Zoom video conference. 

The objective of the webinar is with the COVID-19 pandemic many businesses are faced with a crises situation due to lockdowns which has resulted in business operations stalled for over a month. Also due to the global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic adversely affecting the European and American sectors, many industries are faced with a crisis situation in exports. 

There has also been a breakdown in the supply chain which has adversely affected the export companies. Many companies have been working from home till the offices opened recently but this also in a very controlled manner preventing the spread of the coronavirus.In this crisis situation finance and management accounting professionals have received a shock and need to play a major strategic role to enable businesses to restart as well as to navigate the challenges for business survival. 

The two main addresses will be followed by a panel discussion comprising business and finance leaders to provide practical applications in different businesses to overcome the COVID-19 business crises. 

The webinar will be inaugurated by CMA Sri Lanka President Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala and the presentations will be delivered by Brandix Ltd. Group Finance Director Hasitha Premaratne on ‘The Role of Finance in Managing COVID-19 Crises’ and Lanka Tiles PLC Managing Director Mahendra Jayasekera will deliver his address on ‘Finance Professionals Navigating the Challenges for Business Survival’. The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion which will be moderated by CMA Sri Lanka Council Member Adrian Perera and an eminent panel consisting of Sri Lanka Tea Board Chairman Jayampathy Molligoda, People’s Bank Chairman Sujeewa Rajapakse, KPMG Sri Lanka Managing Partner Reyaz Mihular, HNB Chief Operating Officer Dilshan Rodrigo, DIMO Finance Director Suresh Gooneratne, Dialog CEO/MD Supun Weerasinghe and Heineken Lanka Ltd. Finance Director Samanthi Kariyawasam.

The webinar will conclude with a question and answer session where participants will also have an opportunity to discuss practical applications and obtain clarifications via chat option.  The seminar is meant for: Members of CMA Sri Lanka and other professional accounting bodies, finance directors, CEOs, CFOs, finance managers, accountants, financial analysts and other accounting and finance professionals and academics.
