Franklin Covey Sri Lanka and Maldives conducted another live online webinar on how to create high trust culture recently. It was moderated by Ameer Ahamed CEO for Sri Lanka and Maldives and hosted by the Global Director for Partners Steve Fritzgerad from USA. This program was well attended form C-Suite Leadership form the top corporate companies in Sri Lanka. The program revolved around the concept of ‘Speed of Trust’ book by Stephen M.R. Covey and the work around the trust practice for the last 20 years at Franklin Covey.

Water is the vital substance that sustains all life on this planet. When it’s there, everything flourishes and grows. When it’s not there, everything withers and dies. The same is true for trust. Where there is no trust, relationships decay, projects fail, customers go to competitors, initiatives under-perform and work grinds to a crawl.

Like a ripple in a pond, trust begins with you. Leaders must increase their personal credibility, apply specific behaviours that increase trust, and learn to engage and inspire their people.

Cultures of trust can only thrive aboveboard

Trust isn’t a quality you either have or you don’t, it’s a learnable skill. Teams and organisations that operate with high trust significantly outperform those who do not cultivate trust at the core of their culture.

Developing trust helps team members become energised and engaged. They collaborate more effectively, operate faster, and achieve sustainable results.

“Extending trust is the ultimate act of leadership, the defining skill that transforms a Manager into a Leader.” – Stephen M.R. Covey

Trust comes with practice

Complex organisational problems cannot be solved with the stroke of a pen, a leadership mandate, a training program, restructuring, or changing a system. These things can be helpful; however, all grand strategies must eventually degenerate down to real work done by real people. The speed of trust transformation process is leverage that dramatically impacts business outcomes through changing the performance of individuals and teams. This is not a separate initiative, rather, it is about ‘how’ individuals and teams do their current work. Creating a high trust, highly engaged culture is the ultimate, long-term competitive advantage.

Our transformation process drives a scalable, simple methodology that easily guides individuals, leaders, and organisations to become explicit and deliberate about creating a high trust, highly engaged culture focused on results. The world is changing at an unprecedented pace. Every day leaders are making countless decisions and facing problems they have never encountered before. The speed is relentless, the stakes are high, but the rewards are great for those who can lead a team to consistently achieve extraordinary results. So how can leaders stay ahead of the curve and differentiate themselves and their teams when so much is changing so quickly?
