For the second consecutive year, Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation (SLIC) has partnered with Sri Lanka’s premier annual Cyber Security Summit 2017 edition as the Insurance Partner.

The summit on 27 and 28 September at Cinnamon Grand consists of three key events: Cyber Security Day Conference and Hangout with Hackers (Night Hack) – an innovative and informative evening on the 27th, and the CEOs’ Forum on Cyber Security on the 28th.

The summit is co-organised by the Daily FT and CICRA – Sri Lanka’s pioneering cyber security training and consultancy organisation.

Sri Lanka Insurance has come on board as Insurance Partner for the leading IT event as the company has realised the importance of cyber security in this day and age where secure systems are vital to the conduct of day-to-day business for any company.

Cyber security is a vital issue regardless of an entity being government-owned or private. Incidents of online security breaches, cyber crime and attacks are becoming increasingly common and many individuals as well as organisations including top international conglomerates have become seriously affected by them. Such incidents are expected to increase in number and intensity when everything is communicated over the digital space. That is why it’s important for organisations to take measures to safeguard themselves and their clients from any cyber threats which would affect the security and confidentiality of information.

Cyber Security Summit 2017 is expected to deal with these issues by creating wide awareness and through the introduction of best practices to tighten the cyber security of organisations.

Sri Lanka Insurance has been serving the nation for over five decades and has the most experienced technical knowledge base in the island’s insurance industry. It is the first insurance company to have been assigned a global rating for financial stability AA(lka) from Fitch Ratings, London which was recently upgraded to AA+ (lka). The company has also been awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification for correct governing and operational procedures in line with accepted global standards.

CICRA Group Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said that the co-organisers are delighted to have Sri Lanka Insurance as the Insurance partner of the summit for the second consecutive year.

“This year’s summit will be a bigger and better experience with number of international and local addressing the gathering. The highlight of the event would be the two founder members of world’s toughest hacking groups – LulsSec and Anonymous. They had been convicted and are now engaged in ethical hacking,” Dayaratne said.

“Main objective of the summit is to create awareness on the importance of Cyber Security among top officers in the top corporate management and IT professionals. It also infuses them with the best practices in acquiring, implementing, managing and measuring information security postures of their organisations and countermeasures.”

“The summit will also expose latest flaws in information security that affects the global community including the corporations and the governments. Discussions and presentations will revolve around some of the most malicious attacks and potential threats surrounding the security field,” Dayaratne added.
