The building also boasts a sophisticated 95-slot automated car park, a rooftop cafeteria and four Philips Heart Start FRs Automated External Deliberator Units.

Two Union Square has received the coveted Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification for the energy efficiency features, same as the historic HSBC Main Office Building in Colombo Fort.

Mark Prothero commented: “Built to accommodate flexible ways of working, forward looking technology and a more active workplace, Two Union Square promotes organic ways of ensuring employee well-being and creates opportunities for closer collaboration do deliver better business outcomes.”

The customised design based on research conducted by the HSBC Corporate Real Estate team, brings together global workplace best practices. This iconic building is a collaborative effort between HSBC Sri Lanka and the property owner Shamsudeen Developments & Realty Ltd. and takes HSBC Sri Lanka employees on an exciting journey of new ways of working.

The plaque unveiled for the occasion read: “The HSBC Union Square building is a unique fusion of HSBC’s global outlook and our local heritage. It is a symbol of our continued commitment to all we serve, since we first opened our doors for business here in Sri Lanka in 1892.”
