HDFC Bank’s new CEO assumes duties

Palitha Gamage, a Senior Banker with over 30 years of experience in banking has been appointed as CEO/GM of HDFC Bank of Sri Lanka. He assumed duties on 16August at the Bank’s Head office, Colombo 2.

Gamage commenced his banking career at the DFCC Bank in1987. Prior to joining DFCC Bank in 1987, he worked as a Civil Engineer at State Engineering Corporation of Sri Lanka.

At DFCC, he served in several senior managerial positions in Corporate Banking, SME Banking, Investment Banking, Planning and Operations. In addition, he also served as Head of Corporate Credit at DFCC Vardhana Bank.

At the time of joining HDFC Bank as its GM/CEO, he held the position of Executive Vice President (Integrated Risk Management) / Chief Risk Officer of DFCC Bank. He served as a member of the Governing Board of the National Institute of Business Management for three years from 2010 and served as a Non Executive Director of the National Asset Management Ltd.During his career, Gamage has attended a multitude of local and foreign training programs and workshops covering various aspects of banking.

Gamage holds a B. Sc (Engineering) Hons degree from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka and a MBA from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. He is a Passed Finalist of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), UK and a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka.
