The first phase of the biannual beach clean-up organised by Dell Technologies successfully concluded on 5 October, covering beaches in the vicinity of Galle. More than 70 volunteers participated in the clean-up, which featured Road to Rights, which backed the crew, and the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA), which endorsed the project and provided valuable technical support.

The crew first took up the challenge of cleaning the beach near Jetwing Lighthouse Hotel in Dadella, Galle, and moved to Jungle Beach to complete the clean-up phase in Galle. After covering three beaches around Galle, the plastics collected were packed into lorries and transported to the recycler partnered with the project.

The volunteers lined up for the project with gloves and garbage bags, and completed the task within the day, which was filled with fun and excitement. Dell provided them with caps and t-shirts, and safety measures were prioritised and observed. After this successful effort, the next phase of the project is set to roll out in Trincomalee, followed by the Kalutara and Uswetakeiyawa beaches, respectively. To mark the end of the project, an event will take place on 26 October, reviewing and celebrating the progress of the whole project.
