On the occasion of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Indian Constitution and 129th Birth Anniversary of the Chief Architect of the Indian Constitution Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, Colombo has announced an Essay Writing competition. The details of the competition are given herewith.

1.Topics: Participants can write on any one of the following topics:

  • Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Buddhism, and the Indian Constitution
  • Duties of a citizen under the Indian Constitution 

2.Terms and Conditions:

  • Age limit: 25 years or below as of 1 December
  • Language: Participants can write either in English, Sinhala, Tamil or Hindi language
  • Word Limit: 2,000 maximum words including footnotes
  • Criteria of evaluation: 

lOriginality of the content

lCreativity and rationality

lStyle and presentation of content

lClarity and proper citations

lPlagiarism can lead to outright rejection of submission

3.Registration and Submission:

  • There is no registration fee for this essay competition 
  • Participants should submit their essay along with a copy of their National ID card on or before 24 January 2020 via email to [email protected] 

4.Prizes for winning entries include:

  • First Prize: Rs. 20,000
  • Second Prize: Rs. 15,000
  • Third Prize: Rs. 10,000
