Bringing China closer: Jetwing Air in deal with Air China for direct flights

Air China, the flag carrier and one of the People’s Republic of China’s major airlines will launch direct flights from Chengdu to Colombo, with operations beginning from February 2015 onwards. Jetwing Air, a part of the Jetwing family, acts as the airline’s general sales agent (GSA) and will overlook reservations within Sri Lanka. Emirates, a global connector of people and places, will be able to connect even more people with Chicago on 1 May when it switches from its Boeing 777-200LR currently operating the route to a larger Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, adding passenger capacity. Emirates launched its Chicago service—its ninth US gateway—on 5 August 2014. Less than a year later, the route has carried 66,000 passengers and 3,410 tonnes of cargo to-date.
