EU votes to allow visa-free travel for UAE citizens

The European Parliament last week voted to allow visa-free travel for UAE citizens to countries in the Schengen area in Europe which is made up of 26 countries. Lawmakers carried the decision with a majority vote of 523 out of 577 EU representatives at a meeting in Strasbourg. The EU’s endorsement of the visa waiver status for UAE citizens will start with the setting up of a joint working team of the UAE and EU, which will implement the decision as soon as possible, news agency WAM reported. The team will intensify its efforts to speed up the procedure of the implementation of decision as a prelude to the final announcement to allow UAE citizens visa free travel to Schengen Area, it added....

ITB 2014 opens in Berlin

The number of international exhibitors at this year’s ITB Berlin is higher than ever before. More than two-thirds of the exhibitors showcasing their products and services in the 26 halls on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds, which are fully booked up, are from abroad. The number of international trade visitors (2013: 40%) at this year’s show is set to rise significantly too. Overall, 110,000 trade visitors are expected to attend. From 5 to 9 March 2014 ITB Berlin will be offering visitors a representative overview of travel products and services from around the world and of growth-intensive niche markets. Qatar Airways’ passengers in transit can now explore some of the city’s major tourist attractions on a free tour of Doha.
