FITIS holds ICT vendors forum

The Federation of IT Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), the apex body of the ICT Industry in Sri Lanka, recently held an ICT Vendors open forum for the benefit of their members in the hardware chapter. The forum discussed the many issues faced by the Hardware ICT Sector and the solutions that can be adopted to overcome these challenges. The panelists for the forum included M.C.M. Reuters: A newly discovered bug in widely used Web encryption technology has made data on many of the world’s major websites vulnerable to theft by hackers in what experts say is one of the most serious security flaws uncovered in recent years. US offshoring targets new destinations

By Sabine Vollmer Latin America may gain prominence as a destination for off-shored US manufacturing jobs in coming years, according to research by BDO, a firm that provides US companies with assurance, tax, financial advisory and consulting services. BDO’s 2014 Technology Outlook Survey, which polled 100 CFOs of trendsetting US technology companies, suggested that 57% of the jobs that respondents are planning to offshore will most likely go to Latin America. China, Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe came in a distant second with 13% each. Survey results also showed that offshoring of US tech jobs is slowing.
