REUTERS: The United States on Monday charged five Chinese military officers and accused them of hacking into American nuclear, metal and solar companies to steal trade secrets, ratcheting up tensions between the two world powers over cyber espionage. China immediately denied the charges, saying in a strongly worded Foreign Ministry statement the US grand jury indictment was ‘made up’ and would damage trust between the two nations. Officials in Washington have argued for years that cyber espionage is a top national security concern. Facebook developing video-chat app to rival Snapchat

REUTERS: Facebook Inc is developing its own video-chat app, known internally as Slingshot, after its failed attempt to acquire mobile messaging startup Snapchat, the Financial Times reported on Sunday. SLT Group records Rs. 984 m profit before tax during 1Q 2014

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) released its Group and Company financial results for the 1st quarter 2014 today. The group comprises of holding Company SLT and seven subsidiaries including mobile arm Mobitel Ltd. The Group has reported 6% year-on-year growth of revenue during the 1st quarter 2014, to Rs. 15.3 billion. The growth was contributed by all the operational segments of the group. REUTERS: Network equipment maker Cisco Systems Inc posted a shallower-than-expected 5.5% drop in quarterly revenue, as recovering demand in regions like the United States and Northern Europe helped offset sluggish sales in emerging markets. The company posted gross margins of 62.7% in its fiscal third quarter, up from 53.3.% in the previous quarter and above guidance of 61 to 62%.
