HDCC holds Hambantota District Best Entrepreneur Awards
For the 10th year, the Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce (HDCC) in collaboration with the Hambantota District Secretariat and the University of Ruhuna with the support of southern regional access to finance and advisory programme, implemented by the International Finance Cooperation with financial assistance from Royal Norwegian Embassy , organised the Hambantota District Best Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Ceremony on 28 December 2011 at the Hambantota Singapore Conference hall.
Japanese volunteers support village level producers
On completion of their two year assignments, three JICA volunteers who worked in support of village level producers made presentations on their activities at the Samurdhi Authority of Sri Lanka (SASL) Head Office in Colombo on 3 January.

The Ray Wijewardene Charitable Trust that continues the legacy and the vision of the late Sri Lankan innovator is organising the inaugural ‘Ray Wijewardene Memorial Lecture’ to be held on 13 December 2011. The Ray Wijewardene Charitable Trust organises the lecture with the Institution of Engineers of Sri Lanka – of which Ray Wijewardene was an active associate.
Commonwealth-Asia Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (CAAYE) launched
The Commonwealth Youth Programme Asia Centre, Commonwealth Secretariat in collaboration with The Young Indians of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised a two-day Envisioning Workshop in New Delhi on November 15-16, at the end of which the Commonwealth-Asia Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (CAAYE) was launched.

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) which is celebrated world wide from November 14 to 20 was launched in Sri Lanka at the American Centre last week.
